Just a short intro to Iwagumi Tanks. Basically Iwagumi tanks are very zen-like, extremely beautiful and so relaxing to watch. It has some Buddhism explanation behind it which I won't dwell into, but the philosophy heavily influences the way in which the rocks are placed. I am actually quite proud to say I have created A TINY Iwagumi scape with my 1 litre container which I will show later, LOL fucking cheapthrill to the max.

Iwagumi tanks use sharp and smooth rocks as the main centrepiece, followed by lush grass or moss n the fore and background. NEVER use big-leafed or stem plants as it absolutely disrupts the attention to the rocks, and spoils the whole composition. AND I believe the most important thing is to use very tiny fish, and they must come in schools of perhaps 10-20 minimum. I added that last part coz I feel it is an important aspect in terms of beauty.

Basically why I absolutely love Iwagumi tanks is because it's such a fantasy to have this landscape in your home. Giant mountains and valleys, with flying shoals of fish in the night sky. Absolutely enchanting and hypnotic. I actually told Szebie I wanted to make a tank with floating mountains like Legend of Zu and Avatar, he must think I am siao. But I will really do that one day when I have money. Just tie rocks so that they suspend in midair, and grow moss on the rocks, should be really cool.

ANYWAY here's my own Iwagumi container. I don't think it even fits the category, but it is no doubt inspired by it. It currently houses my baby shrimp and baby guppy, AND FUTURE BABY GUPPIES I hope ahhahaha. You would never have guessed what inspired my layout, it's actually Keppel Harbour's Long Ya Men (Dragon Tooth Gate). Well it used to be iconic, but the British blew it up to widen the harbour. I have always thought Long Ya Men is fucking cool and would have been a great tourist spot. So don't laugh!!!

Baby shrimp is growing wonderfully. I don't know why he's so yelLow here, he's not.

Baby guppy is growing awesome, can't wait for her to grow bigger den I throw her into the main tank to get raped. HAHAHA. I want more babies!!!!

So where did I get my rocks from? You would never have guessed...I went to the road pavement below the MRT track pillars in Clementi. PLENTY of rocks hahaha. Nabeh sia nowadays playground all rubber ground already, no more sand!!! I must have looked like an idiot looking for rocks.

Downside of a tiny container? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SCAPE IT. Firstly my gravel is not very deep, so I can't stabilise the position of ANYTHING. The rocks fell, and the fucking moss keeps floating up!!!! The moss came with a sponge, so I cut them up into smaller pieces to fit in the container. God damn things keep floating, in the end I just lay the rocks on them. When their roots are established, I'm definitely gonna rearrange the rocks. I am eagerly awaiting for the moss to spread through out my nano Iwagumi, oh my god CHIO.

I really wish my office desk has a small tank like this. So relaxing to see my baby guppy swim between the Long Ya Men. Oh yah I threw in one snail for fun heheheh. SMALLEST IWAGUMI AQUARIUM EVER MADE.
