Introducing! My new 5 gallon nano aquarium, SLUMBERLAND!! I think the name speaks for itself, it's placed on my bedside table just so I can stare at it till I fall unconscious. So far I would say it's been working very well!!!! Coz this afternoon it only took 5 minutes for me to knockout, and the water flowing from the filter is very calming too.
After much deliberation and looking around different fish stores, I finally bought the perfect square tank for my table at Clementi Florist and Aquarium. The famous store is more affectionately known by hobbyist as C328. Doing my research on the net, I always came across C328 and with RAVING reviews as well. If you ever read a comment about the helpful auntie, YOU BET SHE IS. She was soooo patient and kind with me eventhough she was so damn busy tending to every damn thing. She even went to great lengths in suggesting the appropriate plants and gravel for my mini tank, eventhough she is making a loss at introducing something cheaper.

Anyway lemme introduce the star of my tank! Although it's abit ironic that I call him a star coz he's one of the smallest. But I fucking love shrimps! Introducing Mr Heh Bee. I actually bought two shrimps for 4 bucks coz Sakura shrimps are the cheapest. I saw a tiny 1 cm Grade SS Crystal Red Shrimp that was selling for 33 bucks. WOA, if I'm gonna start keeping shrimps I better start small first.

Anyway the Shrimp No.2 is not as active as Mr Heh Bee. In fact he is so insignificant coz as soon as I put him in the tank he immediately ran into the cave and fucking hide there like nobody's business. So he shall be called......Shrimp No.2, it's his punishment. I don't know how to identify male and females, I hope both of them can mate and gimme more shrimps!!! Shrimps damn ex I no money buy!

I planted some grass at the front, hoping it will slowly spread itself as months go by.

I think what is cute about shrimps is that most of them are about maybe 2 cm at adult size? So it's great to have a few prancing around your plants and see them feeding all the crap and cleaning the tank in the process. Good job Mr Heh Bee! I'm tempted to get a 10 dollar Blue Shrimp if Mr Heh Bee survives well in my water.

May I introduce! The phantom of the tank, the Albino Cory Cat, Ezalor Keeper of the Light. Ok I'm very deprived of Dota.

For the life of me, I can never capture any of the fish when they are so actively swimming around. But for this particular Albino Cory Cat it glowed magnificently when blurred, unfortunately he is not so bright in real life. I got the Cory Cat instead of suckerfish for feeding off crap, so that he can contrast nicely with the greens.

When I saw this guppy I knew i had to grab it on the spot. He was damn bloody hard to net!! The colour was the most striking and the fins were huge. I never intend to keep guppies as the main fish attraction for my tank. But I'm starting with guppies first before I move on to other fish. The green/yellow/blue gradient is really stunning when the aquarium lights are on, there is no other name for him other than Emerald! I only managed to get a very clear shot of him coz he fell asleep on the gravel LOL.

Guppy No.2's entire body is fluorescent green and blue, very striking and super shiny. AND A REAL BITCH TOO. Although he's smaller than Emerald, he is fucking aggressive and keeps nibbling on him!! He has even bit off a tiny part of Emerald's peacock tail. Kryptonite should be a fitting name, his glow is kinda otherworldly and unnatural. It's almost impossible to capture Kryptonite coz he's flashing across the aquarium so much! This blur photo does no justice to his real colours.

And yesssss my lovely snail. On the day I decided to get an aquarium, I knew I wanted to keep a snail no matter what. I hope Ah Niu will grow super big and erm.....try not to eat my plants. Actually I don't even know if it will continue growing.

Ah Niu is not the prettiest snail around though, I got it jus coz he happened to be in the same fish store. But on the first day when I filled my planted tank with water and waited for the murkiness to settle down, a tiny golden snail emerged from the plants. Free snail from the fish store sia lol!!! It's so damn tiny that it's impossible to capture on camera. Maybe about 1mm? But I noticed it coz the shell was metallic golden which reflected the aquarium light like a gem. PLEASE GROW BIG!!! It will surely have a nice looking shell!
I also have 4 neon tetras that were put in coz I want a small school of fish. Neon tetras have rather stunning colours and are relatively small, which would be perfect for a 5 gallon tank. Erm...I didn't bother to name any of them coz they are like Quadruplets. Okay maybe I shall refer to the group as Tetris. They damn dumb lor, the moment I put them in they were going apeshit like, "OMG REFLECTIONS!!!". Den after that I off the light they go haywire again like "SHIT MAN WHO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!!". I bet tomorrow morning when I wake up and on the aquarium lights they will jump out of the tank.
In conclusion, I fucking hope all of them survive for a month. Considering I'm an amateur in this, I'm praying the shrimps will last 2 weeks. The water needs to condition itself for a month of two before I look at more expensive fish. The bacteria in the water needs to cultivate itself to the point where it can help to break down aquarium waste and that would be perfect. I really wanna put more shrimps in the future!
