YES! I've been waiting forever for this issue to be out, especially after Yagi left us with yet another devastating cliffhanger. The previous issue left us with the awakened form of Luciela/Raphaela shooting bigass spikes all over the island, and all of the spikes seemed to be transforming into creatures ! Riful and Dauf were also heavily damaged from the incoming airstrike of spikes, what will be the outcome of their clash with Alicia and Beth?

The spikes at Clare's side were slowly transforming into what seemed like Awakened Beings.

And it turns out all of them took the shape of Luciela's awakened form!!! How cool is that to have so many mini Lucielas hahaha!!! But this worries me coz this beings are spread all over the island now, how will the Organisation handle this?? Makes you wonder what will Priscilla do at her side, or Miria's group at Rabona.

It seems like these beings had the instinct to kill once they fully transformed. One of them wasted no time in launching a quick attack on Helen, which caught her by surprise. Clare comes in to save the day once again by slicing it's arm to bits. This kinda annoys me coz Helen seemed to have improved the least after 7 years, constantly needing someone to look after her cover ass in recent chapters.

OMG you chop her arm off, and she spews out tentacles from her wound instead??? That's an above average Awakened Being for sure. And worst, there's not one but possibly 10 of them around Clare's group.

Oh wait, they can grow wing-like things behind their back for offence as well. This got me wondering about the fused awakening of the sisters Raphaela and Luciela. We all know Luciela's cat-like awakened form, but what about Raphaela? These cats are the spawns that possess qualities from both of the merged sisters. So could Raphaela's true awakened form consist of wings that shoot spikes? That's a very high possibility, but it will never be confirmed as Raphaela is already dead.

Deneve dives in to land an attack with her two claymores. But as usual her attack power is not strong enough to cut in, but it doesn't matter I still love her!!!! I'd much prefer to be a Claymore of solid defence in a sea of offensive Claymores.

Here we see something that resembled Luciela's awakened form. Any part of the body can evolve a mouth to consume any foreign object on it's skin. In this case the body seems to be eating into Deneve's claymore. As a counter attack, the cat shoots out 3 spikes to impale Deneve. My hunch feeling really tells me an Awakened form of Raphaela really uses spikes and wings for an offensive strike.

Deneve realises that the spikes were not just any normal attack, they were manifesting on her freakin arm!!!! Yagi doesn't really reveal what happens when the spikes are evolving, but I think it forcefully merges with the host and subsequently takes over the whole body. In that case these parasites might be able to retain the host's abilities, like in this case Deneve's hyper regeneration. It makes me wonder, what happened over at Priscilla's town, where a human got impaled by one of the spikes.

I EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM MY FAVOURITE CLAYMORE, DENEVE. Yes bitch!! Rip your own fucking arm off, that's the way to handle matters with your own hands, literally!!! My favourite Claymore will never let a parasite take over her own body!! DENEVE I LOVE YOU!!!!

Then take your severed arm that's still holding on to the sword, and throw it back IN IT'S FACE. That's the biggest Fuck You that ever happened this century, a historical event worth passing down to your grandchildren. SO DAMN BADASS!!! Speaking of asses, we got a nice shot of Deneve's ass here.

Yupppp, as we all know Deneve's attack power is rather low. One throw of her sword barely impaled the cat's head. But in the panels we see the tip of a sword slowly appearing on it's forehead. At first I thought the cat could manipulate foreign objects in it's body, but Helen comes blasting through it's head with her Drill Sword technique!!! NOTHING EVER SURVIVES A DIRECT ATTACK FROM THE DRILL SWORD IN THE HEAD.

Until now. Totally unexpected to see that the freakin thing still survives and is able to attack Helen without a head. That's a way above average Awakened Being for you. Like Agatha and Riful, the awakened being seems to be able to shift it's vital parts around the body as it wishes. Oh Helen, why do you always get the bad end of the deal.

Spikes!! More spikes coming out from the wound of it's severed head! Thank god Clare deflected every spike, which impaled back at the cat itself. The cat was then defeated which I thought was rather odd. It survived a beheading, but couldn't live through an impaling of it's own spikes? Maybe the trick to defeating it is to let the spikes infect the cat itself, but that's just a wild guess.

I can count at least 13 cats here, which means...MIRIA AND TEAM WILL ARRIVE THE NEXT CHAPTER!!! Surely Yagi will not let Clare the main character die here, so somebody's gotta come and save them. There is no freakin way Clare, Helen and Deneve can handle these many awakened beings. This amount of cats seem like something the 7 Ghosts, Galatea and Miata could handle together as a team. Mark my words, G7 will unite again a lot sooner than we expect!!! This could be a chance for Yagi to show us how the savage power of Miata pit against multiple above average awakened beings.
Clare's group then comments on how the current flow of events reminded them of the War in the North 7 years ago. The odds were very bad as it was 7 claymores against a lot more awakened beings, much like the situation now. How will they carve their path to survival just like 7 years ago? They need Miria's strategy and command once again, which is why I think Miria is gonna arrive very soon. Besides I'm sure God Eye Galatea can sense the ridiculous amount of yoki clashing everywhere now, the Rabona faction is sure to meet up with Clare to save their teammates.

The scene then moves on to Riful dragging a very damaged Dauf, escaping from Alicia I suppose. Dauf as usual puts Riful before himself, and request that she leaves him to die so she can escape. But as wicked as Riful seems to be sometimes, she still can't abandon her lover just like that.

The Abyssal Feeders then pops up again as their mission was to hunt down and eliminate Riful. Don't worry guys, it's Riful of the West we're talking about here!!

As expected she ripped the Abyssal Feeder to shreds. But most importantly I think Riful already noticed that if she destroys the head, the Abyssal Feeder would definitely die without regenerating itself.

The continuing panels further remind us how powerful Riful can be, even after losing an arm and getting impaled by the spikes last issue. Sometimes I feel all Riful need is her head and hair to kill everyone haha!! Alicia can rip her body up into nothing and Riful will still survive with just her head alone.

Riful had successfully killed several Abyssal Feeders, but was finally feeling a little pinch when there seems to be a few more of them left. With Dauf that's gonna die anytime soon, and an arm that she couldn't regenerate as she was almost at her limits, Riful seems to be doomed in this chapter. That's until the remaining Abyssal Feeders suddenly got ripped to shreds by an unknown force, much to Riful's surprise.

It turns out Alicia was the culprit, but why is she turning on her comrades now??? Alicia was supposed to lead the Abyssal Feeders to eliminate Riful, so why the sudden change of events? A close up of Alicia's face in the panel above shows that she's on the verge of turning back from her awakened form, but is facing a lot of difficulty. This opens up a lot of possible explanations. The first situation that came to my mind was that Beth had lost control of her twin sister Alicia, and Alicia is going rampant and killing everything in her path including her own comrades. The second situation was that Beth is trying her very best to turn Alicia back to her Claymore form for some reason, but is facing a lot of difficulty. Hence Alicia is now caught in confusion, shifting in and out of her human consciousness, totally at the mercy of Beth's struggling will.
The online community has been calling Clare's awakened form as the Queen of Blades. But are they really sure of this? I somehow feel the name fits Alicia alot more, blades that can shred even Dauf's skin to pieces. And truly, Alicia looks a hell lot more majestic and fitting of the name!!

The next page explains why Alicia is behaving like that. Poor Beth got impaled by one of the spikes, and a really big one at that!! I honestly felt really sad to see Beth in this state, especially after last chapter when she finally wowed the readers with her cool evasion skills after 7 years of training. I can only conclude that when the incoming spikes struck the area, Beth was focusing on controlling Alicia to evade all the spikes. And this resulted in the neglecting of her own safety, and subsequently getting impaled by one of the spikes.
It's definitely not easy to control her twin sister and yet be conscious of her own safety, as displayed by the slowing down of Alicia's movements last issue. Besides, even Riful got unknowingly pierced by the lightning fast spikes!!!! It would be too much for Beth to evade and control Alicia to escape the spikes as well. It seems Beth really places her twin sister's safety well above herself.
It seems that right now Beth is in an even more stressful state, so stressful that I feel so damn sorry for her!!!! Right now Beth is faced with a dilemma of two life changing choices. She can give up the soul link with her twin sister to concentrate on saving herself and subsequently lose Alicia as the latter irreversibly awakens. Or Beth can focus all her energy on turning Alicia back to her claymore form one last time, and she eventually dies as she can't save herself. She has to struggle to keep the soul link with Alicia amidst all the pain and try to make a major decision as well, I have nothing but lots of pity for this character.

Beth is suddenly shocked into trauma as the spikes start to infest her. As we all learnt from Deneve's fight, the spikes will eventually manifest in the host's body and evolve. Honestly if the "thing" really takes over Beth's consciousness, it could only mean the Organisation has lost their #1 and #2 trump cards, Alicia and Beth. Their strongest #1 ever, Alicia, will completely lose control as her twin sister Beth breaks the soul link. CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE THE IMPLICATIONS OF ALICIA RUNNING WILD??
I don't see any glimmer of hope at all for Beth, I have no idea how Yagi can even come up with something to save her. So is Beth and Alicia doomed? Or will Miria and team surprisingly come to her aid instead of Clare's? Maybe Cynthia pops up to heal Beth, and Beth eventually regains control of Alicia? What on Earth happened to Renee and Dietriech!!! Will Riful take this chance to kill Alicia in her weakened state?
I think it just means I can't freakin wait for the next chapter to arrive!!! This chapter is as epic and awesome as the previous few, I need to catch my breath. BRING ON THE OCTOBER ISSUE NOW!!!

Another freakin' EPIC chapter! Agreed that Deneve was totally badass throwing her arm+sword into the monster. I don't know of Miria and company will come to the rescue. We haven't heard from them for a while. I foresee Clare unleashing a heavy application of Quick Sword to slice and dice the monsters though. The smarter way would be have a running battle with the monsters to waste
As for Alicia and Beth, I wonder if Raphaela/Luciela can control Alicia by taking over Beth. That'd be nuts! Lol I always refer to Alicia as the Ultimate Slicing and Dicing Machine. Clare can be Queen of Blades all she wants haha.
I want to see what's happening with Raki and Priscilla. Maybe we'll see Priscilla in action next chapter.
tsk tsk for beth, she is such a potential wasted! but it just made the story more disturbing!
Hi, I'm Kelly Smith from the FB Claymore group.
Helen is really starting to disappoint me. I've been feeling this way since after Cognates of Paradise. You would think after almost getting killed by Isley and the A.F.s that she would be more cautious and battle ready.
This is probably one of my favorite parts in this chapter. To me, this gives some hints into the origins of Claymores and other related creatures. Whatever materials that are created to make half-human, half-yoma creatures must be very mallable. To me it gives some explanation to why Luciela and Raphela were merging after they had died, and how the Org were able to create the A.F.s from humans and the dead parts of Awakened yoma. In addition, it also makes me wonder if Rubel or Rapheala knew that this process would happen. The ultimate would be if one of the A.F.s were speared by The Destroyer's spikes.
This would be a bad situation for Miata. She is too young to be involved in such a dangerous battle like this. If one of those spikes infect her, which could happen too easily, she would Awaken.
It would be possible, but taxing. As with the same thing she did with Jean, she can have her Quicksword technique in combination with Windcutter react to only The Destroyer's Mini-Me's. If Helen finally stops being goofy, she could also do some damage. And well, Deneve is a goddess, we don't have to worry about her. ^_^
This what I like. I'm probably reading into this wrong, but it seems like Yagi is sending of message. To me, that message is when there is a choice of being a monster or accepting love, those that choose being a monster end up dying, and those hat choose love end up living. My examples would be Luciela "crying" for her sister and Isley choosing to use Priscilla as a weapon instead of "settling" down like he wanted too. And I'm not saying that Riful is good because she is a monster as well, but she hasn't abandoned Duff even though he is weaker than her and in alot worse shape. Isley and Luciela would definetely abandon an ally in Dauf's condition, even if it was a lover.
Maybe I'll be wrong on this one, but I don't think Alicia will Awaken and go on a rampage. To me, if that was the case, he attacks would have been wilder, trying to strike everything in her path. Riful and Dauf are not that far from her so it would have been very easy to attack the two of them.
In addition, I think the Organization learned their lesson and programmed safeguards just in case one of them is mortally injured.
Me and Jeanna were having a discussion about A/B a few months back. What Jeanna was stating is that since they have no sense of self, then they have no sense of the "emotional" familial bonds that they share, like Luciela and Raphela do. They know that soul link works because they are twins, but that is where it ends. And I was saying while that may be true, that the Organization's conditioning and training cannot break those "emotional" familiar bonds, especially when they are training via Soul Link. Which then could lead to another couple of questions. Is Soul Link permanent or only active during battle? Does either one or both realize what is going on? Can Alicia and Beth communicate in some way shape or form with Soul Link?
Hmm I don't think Isley would leave someone like Raki or Priscilla behind would he? Jus like how Riful loves Dauf too much to leave him to die.
And yea Helen has been so disappointing as of late. To be honest she has a really cool skill to boot which is the drill sword, but she's way too clumsy. But can you imagine if the 7 Ghosts were all flawless like Miria, that would be too boring. Somebody's gotta be the underdog that brings in all the fun haha!!
http://www.onemanga.com/Claymore/89/25/ Yeah, he left them behind or more like made them leave.
I believe he drove them off because the Abyssal Feeders were hunting him and it would be too dangerous for them. This is an act of love more then anything.
I see your point and I recognize that, but, that was more of Raki's influence. His intention was always to use Priscilla as a weapon, nothing more. And even when they were in the south and he was battling Luciela, he had them stay behind, but obviously, he made sure that they were close by enough so that he could use Priscilla.
